  • Self-portrait with the Jack of Hearts (8 of 36)
Oil
Sometimes it goes one way, then another and its missing, but you’ve lost interest so you paint in a blue dog.
* If you are watching ‘No Direction Home’, continue reading to find out about Tou.
I think the reason Tou loved me so much was because whenever I had to push back, and it happened a few times, when he ran away and hid under the truck, I came right over and reassured him that we were cool. I didn’t baby him or apologize, and sometimes it still took him a few hours or a day to sulk until he returned, but he didn’t spend that time worrying about where he stood with me. Tou learned that whenever he pushed a boundary and I had to snap at him, I wasn’t going to threaten to end our friendship over it. We got a real easy place at the end and Tou even grew confident enough to let me know when I was working on a short temper and overstepping the boundary.
